Day 6 - R&D - South East Dance
Our sign language sequence is now made of 3 different parts.
1. Describes 7 shapes in 7 positions
2. Nominates someone, describes the shape + position and indicate its new location.
3. Plays with directions.
We have manage to speed our concerto from 7'30 minutes to 5'00 minutes! Great job! Now, we can look at it closer and decide what we want to go slower and even faster to create some dynamic changes.
Our diagonal is now also at a 70bpm so it made sense to link the two one after the other. The waiting time between each dancer goes from 2x 8 counts to 1x 8 counts to get everyone on stage at the same time at the end of the second round to go into Actions.
Our Action sequence is getting cleaner as we go along and is now at 70bpm. To make it crispier we have added a pause of 1 count after each action to get a cleaner beginning and ending. Then we have removed the pause. Ideally the pause should still be seen for a micro second.
With our lighting designer in the studio, we have had a great play with shadows today. We realised that what was important was the distance between the shapes and dancers rather than the proximity to the light.
T1 T2 T3 is a tricky one as the size and weight of the props really influence and timing of each movement. The dancers really worked hard on it today and it is getting there! We even have started to had some canon in it.
