Laura Verbeek née Mergny
Laura studied a BA (Hons) at London Contemporary Dance School. Graduating in 2010, she joined Transitions Dance Company at TrinityLaban the following year.
She created SKADooSH, a project-based dance company in 2012 to present her own vision of contemporary dance based on props manipulation and visual metaphors to make her work entertaining, inspiring and accessible.
Creative, quirky and enjoying complex structural processes, Laura delights in exploring the human body’s potential to construct movement.
She regularly incorporates visual elements to illustrate her vocabulary and convey meaning as she is drawn to abstract figures, geometrical constructions and imagery.
Her musical background influences the relationship she creates between dance and music, informing the quality and intention of her movements through melody, rhythm and nuances.
